Day 83: Seeking Help from Experts

Over the weekend, a student was having trouble with his VPython code. Instead of asking me for help, he posted his question to the Python  subReddit and was able to get help from some programming experts. Not only did the student learn about programming, but also about how to best ask questions (you can see in the picture that expert indicated the student’s initial question needed to be more detailed), and that there are people willing to share their knowledge and expertise. The student was VERY excited to share this experience with me.

I found this to be very powerful. In this day and age, why aren’t more students connected to experts? How can we help students develop their own personal learning network? (Naturally, this one came out of necessity, which I think prompts most forays into PLNs.)
