Day 112: Sugar Cubes Make Great Particles

In chemistry we are working through Unit 1 Worksheet 1, trying to invent a model for how ice has more volume than liquid water, AND also keeping in mind it must?? (1) be a solid and (2) have same mass.

My drawings (and their drawings) weren't working very well, so on the fly, I tried to model it with sugar cubes as particles. It worked really well because the sugar cubes don't roll around like marbles and are uniform size.

I know our model isn't 100% correct, but it works for what we observe so far.
