Day 115: A Glorious Day for Sunspots

With almost 70 degree weather and a solar flare in the news, I decided to set up one of our school's telescopes and hold class outside today so kids could see the sunspots first hand.

The mylar filter across the aperture blocks most of the sunlight so we can view the sun safely.

I also spent all of my “free” periods outside manning the telescope for anyone else who wanted a look. Lots of kids came by, which usually made others curious and then they wanted to look, too.

Lots of fun, but I was totally wiped out by the end of the day.
