Day 62: Distance, Displacement, and Position
College-Prep Physics: I started today by asking students to come up with examples as per my instructions above. It was a great exercise that produced struggle and confusion (aka “the sweat of learning“).

Lots of great discussion during board making and during sharing. It’s also a great example where students are able parrot back definitions for distance, displacement, and position, but not really understand what they mean.
For the second half of the period, I asked students to write their own problem that addressed the concepts of distance, displacement, position, and average velocity. I’m going to pick one to use on our next quiz.
